Subject: Absolute Continuum Reset. Sat Dec 07, 2013 4:41 am
I didn't stutter. I've come to realize that my continuum is, by every definition of the word, an absolute clusterfuck. I've spliced so much outside material into the mix that I can barely say that it's "mine". Six months ago I wouldn't have cared, but now my mind has become less clouded as of recent and have found myself capable of wonderful ideas, without relying on any outside influences. I considered applying my newfound creative abilities toward recreating and revising my older characters. However, I'd need to make massive changes across the entire continuum before I can take this action. I've already made some changes to a modest portion of the continuum; enough to sustain itself until the reset is complete. But as for everything else, I'm afraid it'll all have to be wiped clean and begun anew.
...
Actually, the real process will be a lot less dramatic than it sounds. But in any case. Out with the old. In with the new.

I'm going to be working on the "OmegaCorp" side of things for a while. While I've already enacted some astounding new additions and revisions, I don't think I've hammered all the kinks out, plus there's a lot of "holes" that need to be filled in now. Maybe I should make a changelog or something...

Well, here goes.
If the song choice didn't make it clear, things are going to get bloody before this is all over. Continuum Reboot Assessment General New Additions
Four new characters
Another new heroine; Name, age, species, and powers are currently undetermined and her backstory is incomplete. What is currently known about her is that she is a direct descendant of an ancient society's head councilman. The name of the council is unknown, but consisted of 12 people who were capable of manipulating the timeline and resolving time paradoxes. The head councilman was murdered along with his son and 10 other members of the council; however, he had an illegitimate daughter who survived the slaughter.
A new villain; Name, age, species, and powers are currently undetermined and his backstory is incomplete. He is meant to be the arch nemesis of the character mentioned above, but will also become a villain for the entire continuum; after the continuum has been rewritten, we will be responsible for past tragedies that have befallen some of my characters. I'll get more into this after I've made some substantial progress.
Another new heroine and the first Echidna I've ever created; Her name is Haru-Ka, her age is currently unknown, and she currently possesses the Ancient Grimoire: a power (that I'm still experimenting with) that was created to oppose the Azure Grimoire. Her backstory is currently incomplete.
Yuhi Saisei, a semi-developed character who I'll be posting about momentarily.
*Sigh* I really need less females.
The Ancient Grimoire: A power that was created to oppose the Azure Grimoire. When used against an attack that uses the Azure Grimoire, negative Chaos energy, or attacks similar to these, both attacks are negated; however, the energy from both attacks shall remain present at the point in which they clashed, and will be a conduit that amplifies the power of the Ancient Grimoire. By itself, however, the Ancient Grimoire is weaker compared to the Azure Grimoire, and will drain the user if used by itself for extended periods of time. This means that the user must be attacked in order to sustain the power of the Ancient Grimoire.
Arma Antīquōrum Causality Weapons: A new tier of Ars Magus, and currently the most powerful, surpassing the Nox Nyctores Causality Weapons as the highest form of Ars Magus. It is currently unknown how these weapons are tempered. Only one Arma Antīquōrum has been identified so far.
The Hunters: The male counterpart of the OmegaCorp Operators. I didn't really work on this one, I just thought it was kinda ridiculous why I made an all-female division without a male counterpart. However, the Hunters and Operators will be treated as two halves of a special division.
Issues Addressed After Summer 2013
The nature of the Azure Grimoire was never defined, and it was never explained as to why it exists.
Almost every character that wasn't OmegaCorp Personel was automatically filed as a "Vigilante", implying that they indirectly did work for OmegaCorp.
I have forgotten the age for several characters that were created over the summer because I never wrote them down.
Changes in the continuum will require a large portion of it to be rewritten. This will be an ongoing issue until everything is completed.
Issues Resolved
My explanation for the Azure Grimoire was that it was created as a byproduct of the Chaos Emeralds being used. It appears as a pitch-black mass of negative Chaos energy and is the embodiment of the user's latent, evil desires. It requires the life energy of others to sustain itself, which is achieved by attacking the soul/core of a human/Mobian directly. Occasionally, they can combine to form a greater being, such as Necro. Additionally, a version of the Black Beast also exists in the continuum, created when Chaos ascended to Perfect Chaos. Since this happened twice canonically, there are two "Black Beasts".
I think it would be for the best if I strip some of these characters of all knowledge relating to OmegaCorp. They really need to start living their own lives.
I've decided I'm just going to change the established age for most of my characters. I should really stop creating adults, anyway.
Characters Sigma Hale Issues Addressed After Summer 2013
Although I rarely use him to begin with, he has become a blatant Ragna the Bloodedge clone with a horrendously shallow backstory. Also, there's no explanation as to why Sigma has the Azure Grimoire, or why his version of it is considered to be more powerful.
This might just be my opinion, but to me, his appearance is a bit too... mechanical for me.
Issues Resolved
Give this new backstory a read:
Sigma was once a flesh and blood Mobian named Simon, who was diagnosed with NIDS around adolescence and was only expected to live for another six to seven years. His mother was suspected to have contracted the disease before his birth, and the strain was benign for the first ten years of Simon's life. However, his mother feared that she would not outlast her child, and she and her husband were desperate to find someone who could guide Simon through the last years of his life. Though OmegaCorp did not exist at the time, Albert was a wealthy entrepreneur with many intelligent assets at his disposal. He approached the family one day, and agreed to adopt and help Simon. Simon was reluctant to accept the human's help at first, and initially rejected Albert's offer to make any improvement to his life. Since Simon could still walk at the time, he thought he was strong enough to walk straight into his grave. However, it wasn't long before the nerves in his legs grew weak, and it became more difficult to walk as his legs refused to respond to his will. Albert worked with his assets and associates to design and construct a special exoskeleton that would increase the wearer's physical capabilities... or help a cripple through their daily lives. After the exoskeleton was completed, he augmented Simon with it, promising that Simon could live out the rest of his life without NIDS confining him to a deathbed. Simon was thankful at first, but over time he grew increasingly disappointed in himself. He began to see the exoskeleton as a crutch, and felt disgraced that he had to rely on it just to get through life. Instead of expressing his anger inward, however, he often projected it outward; he would blow a gasket every time he felt someone was gawking at him. It was quite obvious that Simon was suffering from depression, and these outbursts quickly drew Albert's attention to it. Albert initially hoped that the exoskeleton would allow Simon to live out his last moments in peace. But as the symptoms linked to Simon's depression became increasingly severe, Albert determined that the exoskeleton was only a temporary solution and would not achieve its intended goal. He never intended for Simon to suffer like this until his end of days. Albert abandoned his original intentions... and made plans to take his project one step further. Albert spent some time on a "side project", which required some years of research and testing. However, he was forced to spend fewer hours each day as Simon grew closer to death. And each day, Simon begged him to remove the exoskeleton bound to his body and let him pass away the way he was meant to. As his pleading went unanswered, he began to express his hatred toward Albert and his project. From the start, Albert felt guilty that he was not spending his time nurturing Simon more and easing his pain through life. But he had already come to terms with his decision, and he would not deter from his goal. Time continued onward. Simon's biological mother had fallen into a coma, and the former was expected to be deceased within a few months. By now, Simon became detached from the world. He barely ate anything, barely spoke to anyone... he was going to die soon anyway, and there was nothing he could do to change that. However, Albert was prepared to change everything. He approached Simon and unveiled his completed project: a fully functional cybernetic body, containing every aspect of the Mobian anatomy yet with abilities far surpassing that of a normal Mobian. When Simon complained that Albert was wasting his time, Albert claimed that it was time well-wasted. Since Simon was still wearing the exoskeleton, Albert could link it to the new body and download Simon's brain into it. Although Albert needed Simon alive for this to be possible, he was certain that the process would kill Simon. In return, however, Simon would continue to live on through the new body, free of disease and pain, retaining nearly every aspect of his past life. "Give in to death to cheat death", Albert took to saying. But even after all that work, knowing that Simon hated him, knowing that he likely wanted nothing to do with his machines after the exoskeleton, he determined that it should be up to Simon to decide whether he wanted this or not. Simon knew he was going to die, whether from NIDS taking its course or letting Albert have his way with him. But he couldn't get over how useless he had been in life. He didn't contribute anything to society. Even with all the extra opportunities that the exoskeleton might've given him, he let every one of them go to waste. Years worth of missed opportunities where he would have otherwise had none. He wanted to redeem himself. He could die alone and no one would miss him... or he could throw away his old life and start a new one. He knew that he wouldn't get this chance again. He accepted. Simon, who now assumed a new identity as Sigma, witnessed OmegaCorp's rise to power, and saw their capital of Odyssey City growing around him. He was given a chance to visit his mother in the hospital before starting his new life as an OmegaCorp Administrator. Her chances of recovering from the coma were slim, but the disease had stopped progressing. Sigma promised that he would fight to the very end, so that she could return to a safer world the day she would finally awaken.
I haven't written anything about his OmegaCorp life yet, but the Azure Grimoire comes into play when OmegaCorp discovers the Boundary and nearly unleashes the first Black Beast into the world. However, it had been weakened after 4,000 years, and Sigma was able to seal it within his right arm before it could wreak havoc. This was an act that would've been impossible for a normal man; however, since Sigma technically didn't have a soul/core, he was able to resist being corrupted. However, his lack of a soul has only delayed the inevitable; once the Black Beast adapts to his mechnical body, it can take over.

Monica DeLouise Issues Addressed After Summer 2013
Unfortunately, though she has become more proficient in combat, she has also become a poor clone of Noel Vermillion with a really half-assed backstory.
Issues Resolved
Take a look at her new backstory:
Monica DeLouise was born on the night of October 16, 1987 to a wealthy French couple, Markus and Frencezka DeLouise. Her early education was spent in prestigious boarding schools and (blah, blah, blah, blah...) She spent a great deal of her childhood with a purple porcupine named Vinka, who had been her best friend throughout life. They did almost everything together; they went to the same classes together, went to the same parties, they even helped each other with homework and other things. On her 16th birthday, Monica ran off to play in the fields near where the party was being held when she noticed one of her friends went missing. Monica went looking for her and accidentally tripped on something. She looked back to see what it was, and was horrified by the sight. It was her friend's body. She'd been murdered. Monica then found herself face-to-face with the monstrosity responsible for the murder. Up until now, she never once considered that the legends she had read about the Boundary or the Murakumo Units were true. And now, staring her in the eye was the eighteenth Unit, σ-18 -- or what was left of her, at least. Having been previously destroyed by Sigma a year before, σ-18 was banished to the Boundary and left to revive herself, driven by her will to destroy the Power of Order. In desperation, σ-18 clawed her way out of the Boundary to merge with the nearest compatible lifeform and make her body whole again. That lifeform just happened to be Monica. Her friend was incompatible for reasons that were not made clear to Monica until years later. When Monica encountered the Murakumo Unit, she was still incomplete and was barely holding herself together. Seeing this, Monica thought she'd have a chance to run away. However, the second Monica turned around, one of the Murakumo's blades stabbed her in the chest, dragging her back. She screamed and prayed for someone to save her. "Someone... please... I don't want to die like this..." ... Someone did save her -- or rather, something. The Nox Nyctores "Volō Ascensio: Siggautr" appeared in Monica's hands as she was dragged toward σ-18. Monica hadn't fired a gun in her life until now, but she had no other option. She desperately fired at the Murakumo Unit as she fought for her life, but it refused to go down. At the last moment, Monica landed a shot in the Murakumo Unit's head. The body fell limp. Its armor and blades disappeared in a blue light, and the rest of the body simply faded away into nothing. Monica's adrenaline began to wear off after the period of mortal danger had passed. She collapsed seconds later due to exhaustion and blood loss. The next day, she awoke to the sound of a heart monitor. She was in a hospital. After Monica regained consciousness and demonstrated she was capable of breathing without assistance, the doctors opened the room to visitors. As expected, her family and friends (minus one) went to her bedside. However, there was one visitor who was a complete stranger to her. They appeared to be an OmegaCorp representative... but why were they here? Something seemed off. She didn't suffer any fatal injuries, but if it caught OmegaCorp's attention, it typically meant that something else was wrong; something beyond the typical Mobian's comprehension. In the next three years, Monica began getting memories of a life that she had no prior recollection of. Horrific memories of people and soldiers being slaughtered. Angry memories of being hunted like an animal. Lonely memories of a life spent in a pitch-black dimension, the only company being these light-blue orbs that simply come and go. Memories that didn't belong to her. It finally dawned on her what really happened when σ-18 was killed. When Monica finally shot σ-18 in the head, it was already too late. She was already beginning to merge with the Murakumo Unit. Monica may have saved her own body when Siggautr lended her its power, but σ-18 was willing to go to any length to achieve her goals. That included forfeiting her own body to merge every part of her soul with Monica's. She was using Monica as a vessel to fulfill her ambitions. She may have lost her original body, but in time she would be able to crush Monica's soul and claim her body for herself. Now she was forcing her own memories into Monica's brain to try and break her, to chip away at her willpower and speed up the process. Every time a memory from σ-18 was shoved into Monica's brain, however, it would be shoved out by another force. She could feel Siggautr's presence every time it happened. Now Monica had realized that Siggautr was the only thing keeping σ-18 at bay. Monica knew that it wouldn't last forever. It would just keep happening again and again until she finally gave in. Then she would kill everyone close to her and she wouldn't be able to do a damn thing to stop herself; or stop her body, more like. Out of fear for herself and everyone she held dear, she ran away to Takemikazuchi, an OmegaCorp-owned city and the location of the Operator Academy. The main curriculum of the academy's scholars dealt with the sort of phenomenon that was now ruling over Monica's life. She wanted answers... she wanted to feel safe again. She knew that every step towards the Academy was a step away from her normal life. She'd already determined that her life would never be normal again anyway. She didn't even make it into the city before G.U.N. kidnapped her and tried to smuggle her on a transport away from the city. They were stopped by the brave efforts of a renowned Operator, an ocelot named Athena Pyress. As she offered her hand to Monica, the latter felt as if someone was finally looking out for her. Perhaps fate was willing her toward the Academy... and perhaps it was also responsible for bringing her and three friends together. The first was a pink vixen named Masako Haruno, who sought her out almost immediately. They quickly became friends, though Monica claims that Masako tried to come onto her once. They took in two more students after: a snow leopard named Kasha Petrovski, and an olive green cat named Natalie Alister. The four girls were all in their first year, and they each made it a point that they would graduate together. Two years later, they graduated at the top of their class, and quickly worked their way up the ranks, becoming some of the best Operators in OmegaCorp today. Monica lived a confident life from then onward, knowing that she has friends that she can rely on, and that they'll stand together even in the darkest of hours. But she knows that her fight with σ-18 is far from over. She hopes that when and if the Murakumo Unit takes her life for her own that Masako, Natalie, and Kasha will be there to end it.
Alouette Masako Haruno
I changed Alouette's name to Masako. I was actually thinking about changing it for quite a while.
Issues Addressed After Summer 2013
I'll be honest here, I really started to dislike her after realizing she was basically a clone of Jin Kisaragi and Ky Kiske. I needed to give her something that made her truly unique.
I once attempted to give her a Stand that was based on Jean Pierre Polanreff's Silver Chariot.
Issues Resolved
Deciding to give her a unique title and uniform was a start, but StormRend needed to go. So I decided to replace StormRend with Storm of Justice: Susano'o -- an Arma Antīquōrum Causality Weapon. Originally, however, nothing significant changed about her besides the fact that she could manipulate wind alongside ice and lightning, plus it affected her emotions a bit. Early December, however, I got really creative, and came up with this entry:
Spoiler:
Susano'o is the first Arma Antīquōrum Causality Weapon observed by OmegaCorp. Wielded by Masako, its basic function is the ability to disrupt elemental stability, allowing her to unleash a variety of elemental attacks, as well as cut through solid materials with ease. The effects are only temporary; for example, her ice constructs would shatter and quickly melt away, and a clean slash through a 12 inch thick wall of titanium would shift back together after five seconds, as if nothing had happened. Susano'o also seems to limited to disrupting one element at a time; Masako was unable to unleash both ice and lightning attacks at the same time, and had difficulty cutting through a 12 inch thick wall of titanium and cobalt (it had no issues cutting through a cobalt-titanium superalloy, but encountered difficulty when the atomic structures of the two metals were kept separate through a synthetic bonding process). However, further observation concluded that Susano'o is capable of severing the very existence of an area from the observable universe with its slashes, isolating it from the continuum for a finite amount of time. Eventually the sealed space will naturally reconnect itself to the continuum, but in the meantime, any events occuring outside of the space will not affect it, and vice versa.
I also decided that Susano'o should have the power to absorb intense emotions, which may be the key to unleashing her Resolute Form. Yes, I'm giving her a form.
After the short trial period, I decided she's better off without a Stand.
Natalie Alister Issues Addressed Winter 2014
Funny, I'd actually made a very recent mistake. For those of you who remember the incident, I tried to make Natalie stand out from the others by making her a sadomasochist. Without any fucking reason whatsoever. Obviously it failed.
Aaannd I haven't drawn her in forever.
Issues Resolved
Actually, I think I can make this work. I've only got half the reason for it at the moment, however. Mainly, how I can utilize this part of her personality. I feel that if I bring that part out in the right situation with the right timing, it can be a very effective survival tactic for her. Think of it this way; she's a stealth-based character, but if she has no other choice but to fight, she can make an example of the enemy and have them lay witness to her unparalleled cruelty in combat and her perverse pleasure in pain and injury. This would, without a doubt, drain the enemy's morale severely, giving her an advantage in combat and thus increase her chances of survival. Now, this tactic wouldn't work on OmegaCorp's soldiers or other PMC troops due to all those emotion-suppressing nanos swimming throughout their bodies as they're sent into the blender, but everyone else? Fair game. So while Masako's slicing and dicing and chopping people into hamburger, Natalie plays a somewhat different game in that she's able to attack on a mental level.
Telos Nyctores Issues Addressed After Summer 2013
I thought that by introducing a villain, I'd have an ongoing threat in my continuum. But since I was unwilling to give up my need for justice at the time, Telos turned out to be a complete joke. I couldn't take him seriously, and I never used him.
On top of that, his design was absolutely horrendous.
Issues Resolved Enough of this "For Great Justice" crap. I need a REAL VILLAIN.
As part of his new backstory, Telos was once a flesh and blood Mobian who was "saved" by Albert in the same way that Sigma was. For a while, he and Sigma were friends. However, he began to grow jealous of Sigma's newfound powers after the incident involving the Boundary. One day he snapped, and unleashed the second Black Beast into the world, sealing it within his body. He was instantly corrupted, and subsequently fled after some fighting. He sought to build his own nation; however, mass-producing soldiers wasn't an option for him. Since the technology he stole from OmegaCorp used a self-developing A.I., this made it impossible for him to maintain absolute control. He could provide some basic programming, but over time their cybernetic minds would begin to fill in the blanks and question their purpose, eventually turning against him. But Telos found a way to circumvent this. To create an obedient army that was capable of educated decisions, he needed to create a unique, fully-developed A.I. for the cybernetic bodies. The Mobians became a living resource for his ideals. He began harvesting various Mobians off the streets. He started with the impoverished; people who probably wouldn't be missed. One by one, he ripped their memories and other aspects of their lives straight from their brains and planting them in cybernetic bodies, altering them to make them believe that they had lived in his "nation" their entire lives. This also gave him a means to feed his Azure Grimoire, stealing the life force of the Mobians he had captured. However, OmegaCorp discovered a way to "save" these lost souls from Telos' grasp. Should they manage to recover their cybernetic brains, they can be reconfigured and placed within synthetic bodies. It's the least they can do to give them a life outside of poverty or Telos' terrorist society.
I will continue working on this from time to time. But for now, Merry Christmas, guys.

Honestly though, this could turn out to be some really brilliant stuff if you do keep the dice rolling. Heck maybe you could make an RP outta all this, I'd certainly find it interesting.
