Paper Mario: The 8 Diamond Orbs

Ruby fell into a different hallway and snuck out silently.

Xavier looked around the corners and saw a group of guards blocking the exits.

"FLASHBANG!" The guards noticed Xavier and Ruby, threw flashbang grenades at them, and knocked them both out.

Ruby twitched a couple of times.

Xavier woke up on the castle's floor. "......what......" Xavier fell back and KO'd himself again.

Ruby shrugged, and remained silent while waiting for Xavier to wake up.

Xavier opened his eyes. "Did you have that dream, too?"

Ruby tilted her head. "About that one with the Flashba- ...I'd rather not finish that."

"Yeah that." Xavier got up.

Ruby sighed. "That was reality, you know. Logic at its perfection."

"Wonderful....You must have made those real guys pretty mad." Xavier rubbed his head.

Ruby sighed. "Well, where to?"

"Dunno." Xavier headed towards the Orb room.

Ruby shrugged and followed him.

Xavier looked around and saw a couple little pictures showing up in the orbs. "There's some sand, palm trees, temples....seems like a desert is where the next Orb might be at."

"Well, this should be a 'heated' competition." Ruby tried making a pun of sorts.

"You just had to make a bad pun." Xavier facepalmed.

Ruby facepalmed. "Yes, I know it was horrible."

Toadsworth walked down the staircase into the room, frightened. "I had the most awful dream! I was whisked away by you two into a massive city, beaten by smugglers, and brought back with an insane loss of memory." Xavier stood still. "Uh..."

Ruby facepalmed with her other hand, making both hands on her face. "That happened in reality, doc."

".....excuse me?" Toadsworth sat down. "Besides that, then, where do you think the next orb is?"

"A desert. Temples, trees, sand." Xavier said.

"Yeah, Des- Wait a second, When did Deserts even have Palm trees? Could be near water or something."

"Oasis's and stuff." Xavier said.

"Well, there's one desert nearby, but it's having some strange occurences." Toadsworth said.

Ruby sighed. "Well, how about we go there?"
